Final Thoughts and Discoveries From the Experiment

My Thoughts:

Finally, i have done the food experiment for 3 days. I am really satisfied with the result as now i can slowly change my eating habit to a healthier one. Before this food experiment, i rarely eat fruits or vegetables and i also consume too much junk food. I feel that my eating habit before is really unhealthy. However, after experiencing the healthier eating habit, i decide to continue that healthy lifestyle. Food is one of the most important things that we require. Hence, everyone is supposed to eat healthy foods, so that we will not be prone to illnesses and can live longer.

A healthy eating habit is useful for our body and mind. I hope that you will be motivated to change your eating habit after reading my blog. You could make your own "Food Rules" too and slowly try to obey all of them. It will be challenging at first, but i am sure as time goes on, you will be used to following those rules. After following those rules, you will find yourselves becoming fitter each day. I also do feel healthier after i follow those rules from the "Food Rules" and i encourage you all to do this food experiment too.

Future Plans:

Through this food experiment, i realize that eating healthy food is really crucial and will have a positive result on us. Therefore, from this day onwards, i will try to keep on obeying the food rules i mention before and i will also probably add more rules along the way. I believe that i will be healthier in the future and can live life to the fullest. :))

Day #3

Hi again everyone!

Today's breakfast, i ate popcorn chicken with rice and shrimp wonton. This was a heavy breakfast as i was trying to follow the rule, "Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper." I felt really full after finishing those meals in the morning. It energized me in the morning and kept me awake. Around 11 a.m., i ate my birthday cake that was given by my friends. I was really full and did not feel like eating anything anymore. This was the first time that i ate such a heavy breakfast.

The popcorn chicken's ingredients are chicken, chili powder, vegetable oil, pepper and salt whereas the shrimp wonton's ingredients are shrimp, spring onion, wonton skin, minced pork, flour and some seasonings such as sesame oil and soy sauce.

This is the popcorn chicken:

For lunch, i did not eat much as i was still full from the morning. I ate beef noodle i bought from Din Tai Fung restaurant the day before. The portion was quite a lot, thus i was unable to finish it. I also still followed the rule, "Stop eating before you are full". I did not finish the noodle and kept it for the other time. By this, i also still followed the rule, "Eat food that have been cooked by human". The beef noodle is made up of egg noodle, sesame oil, chili, sliced beef, soy sauce, salt, pepper and vinegar.
This is the beef noodle:

For dinner, i did not feel really hungry as i have already ate a lot for breakfast and lunch. Hence, i just ate fruits that were in my refrigerator. Those fruits are strawberry, grape, apple, orange, raspberry and blackberry. This was a healthy and light dinner. By this, i have followed the rule, "Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper". After obeying this rule, i felt like i was healthier and i realized how unhealthy my eating habits were before. I seldom ate fruits before, but after eating fruits today, i felt that they did not taste as bad as i thought.

This is the fruits:

Fruits are healthy for us and i encourage those who seldom eat fruits to try eating them and making it your eating habit. Fruits are fresh and tasty too. For me, fruits are way better than vegetables, however, i would still try to eat vegetables as i knew that they are healthy too. I suggest that if you do not like vegetables at all, try to increase the portion of fruits you consume. It would balance your nutritional needs. BUT, try to eat vegetables too once in a while. It doesn't cost you anything, instead it is beneficial for you.

From this 3 days, i have learned lots of things and i think that changing my eating habits to a healthier one is really a good idea. Hopefully, after this 3 days, i could continue to follow all of the rules that i mentioned in my first entry and lead a healthier lifestyle. :D

Day #2

Hi everyone !!

Today i also succeeded in changing my eating habits. I tried to eat like an omnivore. This was not really a tough rule to follow as i did not need to eat plants only. Eating like an omnivore meant that i tried to add some new species to my diet-that was, new kinds of plants, animals, and fungi. This was really a new experience for me and i was very delightful about it. Besides, today i also continued to follow the other rules which were "Eat food that has been cooked by human"and "Stop eating before you're full". I think i have been used to stop eating before i'm full because i knew that this was a good rule to follow.

Today, i had a gathering with my church's friends and we decided to hold a cooking contest. There are three groups and each group consisted of 4 people. Firstly, we had to make something from a whole chicken, mushroom, radish and asparagus. This was quite challenging as all of my group members including me have not tried to cook from those ingredients before. After quite some time, we decided to deep fried the chicken and baked the asparagus. By this, i had follow the rule, "eating like an omnivore" because i cooked chicken with asparagus, radish and with mushroom too. Besides, i also added some seasoning such as soy sauce, vinegar, onions, pepper and salt.

Here was the food that my friends and i cooked.

The ingredients were:

Chicken

Radish

Mushrooms

Asparagus

Soy sauce, pepper and salt

After that, we also cooked desserts.
The ingredients are pineapple, ginger, nata de coco, and sweet potato. The taste was quite good and i was satisfied with the result. With this, i also had followed the rule "Cook". Home-made meals are healthier, so i will try to stick with the rule, "Cook" . :)

Day #1

Today, i tried to change my eating habits and obeyed some of the rules that i mentioned the day before. Firstly, i ate food that has been cooked by human. This rule was easy to follow because those foods were easily available in the school cafeteria or restaurant. I think that i could adapt to this rules for a few days or even a few months, if i start to cook by myself. However, i should firstly learn how to cook and it might take some time for me to be able to cook well.

From this day onwards, i will try to prepare home-cooked meals for myself to save my money from purchasing foods.

What's good about home-cooked meals?

It conjures up images of a family setting, fresh foods, warmth, love, healthy eating and comfort. By eating a home-cooked meal, we would all be having nutritious, balanced meals every time we sit down at a table. The ingredients would be fresh and no preservatives or additives would be considered, and the flavors would make our mouths water too. However, not many of us have time to prepare meals by ourselves, hence, we could sometimes buy foods from restaurants or canteen. I will try to make pasta tomorrow as it is one of my favorite foods. Let's see if i can keep my promise and adapt to this rule...

What do i think about eating foods that have been cooked by human?
Honestly, foods that are cooked by human are far more mouth watering than those frozen foods or junk foods. They are more appetizing and their texture are eye catching, especially foods that are cooked by a versatile chef. Besides, they are also healthier than frozen foods or junk foods because fresh ingredients and spices are used. It is also because those foods contain less chemical or other inappropriate substances that some frozen or junk foods might contain.

Moreover, i also have obeyed the other rule which is "Stop eating before you are full". This is also not a really difficult rule to follow. Today i ate lunch with my friends at Chada Thai Restaurant. I ordered fried rice with spiciness rate of 2 out of 5. I personally like spicy foods as they are more tasty and because i have already used to eat chili. Foods without chili are less palatable for me. After eating half of the fried rice, i stopped eating even though i was not really full enough. However, i was not hungry anymore too. Following this rule brought advantage to me. Firstly, i could store my food for other time and i could save my money too as i would eat less food. This rule was quite interesting and i felt delightful after obeying it.
I think that i could adapt to this rule for quite a long time. :)

This was the fried rice that i ordered:
This fried rice was cooked by a Thailand chef.
It contained eggs, onions, chicken, some vegetables, chili, soy sauce, ketchup and other spices.

Some of the ingredients used (one of them is onion)

One of my favorite seasoning, chili!

I am quite satisfied that i could obey the rules. I learn that eating foods that have been cooked by human is better and stop eating before i am full is also a good thing to do. I am still working on my cooking ability now. Hopefully i could improve it and prepare a healthy food by myself.
During these few days, i had eaten less junk foods and frozen foods. This was a good improvement too. ^^ Tomorrow my eating habits would be better i guess...

My Eating Habits

My typical eating habit is not really healthy because i personally do not like vegetables. That green little foods do not attract my attention at all and i really have no appetite for vegetables except for a few of them such as spinach and celery. I know that eating vegetables is crucial and hence, i want to try changing my eating habit. Besides, after i read the Food Rules, i got an idea on what a healthy diet is. From then, i decided to follow several Food Rules which i think that i could adapt for a few days.

The Rules that i will follow are:
1. Avoid food products with the wordoid "lite" or the terms "low-fat" or "no
nfat" in their names.
2. Eat only foods that have been cooked by humans.
3. Don't eat breakfast cereals that change the color of the milk.

4. Stop eating before you're full.
5. "Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper"
6. Cook
7. Eat like an omnivore

One of the meal that i ate today was cereal. The cereal's
name is KRAVE and it is a cereal with chocolate flavored center. It also contains milk, soy, oat fiber, corn bran, 2% or less of brown sugar syrup, salt, palm oil and wheat ingredients. This cereal does not change the color of the milk and by this, i have obeyed one of the rules. Besides, i also ate this cereal with milk that was not a "low-fat" milk. I had obeyed the first rule too which was to "Avoid food products with the wordoid "lite" or the terms "low-fat" or "nonfat" in their names".

Oat Fiber, from China

Palm Oil, from Indonesia

This week i will try my best to follow all of the rules listed above and to make myself lead a healthier lifestyle. One of my weaknesses is that i cannot cook very well. Hence, i mostly eat frozen food or instant food which are not really healthy. However, from today onwards i will try to cook by myself from fresh ingredients so that i can consume healthier and more nutritious food. This is quite a challenge for me though but i'm sure that i can do my best and change my eating habit slowly but surely. Hopefully, tomorrow i can cook my own food and i will also post more photos of my cooking. :)
